Kid Dress up

When you were young and free did you ever see some frazzled looking mom and kids wearing the oddest combinations and you thought to your self I will never do that. Yeah, ok that was me. Now I am old(er) and frazzled and do the same thing I promised myself I would never do. It all began when Jack was 15 months and took him into the store in shorts and Buzz Lightyear snow boots. It was so not worth the argument to get the boots off of him. I took him to the babysitter like that and she was completely understanding.
Then I get to Noah. Noah likes to comb his hair himself. Noah has naturally curly hair and it my be possessed by something. It isn't the easiest hair in the world to do. He will do his hair and it will look dreadful but I am in a hurry so we just leave.
Now Katy. This is how she dressed herself to go to Maverick.

She is obviously thrilled with her choice. So, I took her to Maverick like this. Ok she really didn't look like this, I do have some standards. She wasn't wearing the glasses. Granted the area we live in, if you have shoes on you are considered dress but still.

Where did I go wrong? Is this my punishment for mocking those frazzled mom's with the oddly dressed kids? Do I need to give myself an extra 10 minutes to physically remove the clothes and replace them? That is so not going to happen. I think maybe I will start putting a disclaimer on my kids that says, "I dressed myself. Don't mock my mom, because this could be your life one day". I actually think to myself that they are just showing their creative side, hold my head up high and say to myself, at least they have clothes on.

Noah Starts School

Noah started kindergarten this year. It is really fun having to tell your son's teacher that he will try to come home. We aren't in walking distance but that won't stop him from trying. He also takes the bus which is an adventure all on its own. He refused to get on the bus twice now. He keeps asking me if he can walk to the bus stop by himself. I can't guarantee that he will get on the bus if I am not there with him. Jack was walking to the bus stop by himself three weeks into his Kindergarten year. I realize that each kid is different but come on. Hopefully if he decides to make a jail break he goes to my friend who lives over by the school.

I don't have any pictures of Jack's first day back. He is in third grade which is when you start getting letter grades. At mid-term he gave me his report card and was looking at it and got upset because he thought he an A-. I had to calm him down and tell him he had all A's, no A-'s. He had over 100% in most areas. If he gets that upset over an A-, I pray he doesn't get a B+ or even worse just a B. I am glad they are in school. I get a little bit of peace and quiet, no a lot since Katy is still here but enough!

End of Summer

School for Jack starts in one day and Noah starts in a week. Summer went by really fast but all good things must come to an end, right? Plus I think that my kids are exhausted. What do you think?

Noah pretty much goes to sleep wherever his battery dies. I was working and looked down and this was where he fell asleep.

We got back from something and turned around and saw this. Josh using Katy as a pillow. She is kind of bony with not a lot of meat on there so I am assuming it isn't a comfortable pillow for sleeping.

Obviously Katy doesn't think she makes a good pillow either.

It's Always Fun at Grandma and Grandpa's House

WARNING: SERIOUSLY LONG POST
We went to Grandma and Grandpa's house a couple of times this summer. Grandma always has fun things for the kids to do. Plus she has tons of toys which Katy always manages to bring home. According to Grandpa Katy can take them home because it gives Grandma the opportunity to buy more.

We went miniature golfing in Utah County. Dan wore a Ute shirt and I had a Ute hat on. (I really don't care about the rivalry, I just have one hat. Go Weber) Grandpa said he was very disappointed in us. He was seriously joking. The kids had so much fun. Noah hit a couple of holes in one and he would raise his hands in the air. Jack was very methodical and would get upset when it took him longer to get it in the hole. I would get a hole in one and then the next hole get 7 strokes. I am not the best miniature golfer. I blame it on the club.

Katy kept lying down on the green. When you asked if she was sleeping she said no, I'm dead. Don't know where she gets this from.

Noah. He kept getting confused because he is left handed so he has to be opposite than everyone else. He told me once that he didn't want to be left handed anymore because left hand people are weird.

Grandma bought a game called Ladder Ball. Lets just say that older boys (including Dad and Grandpa) with dirty minds shouldn't be allowed anywhere near this game.

All in all, the kids have awesome Grandparents. Make it nice since my three only have one set of grandparents. These grandparents make up for that.

Midway Adventure

We went up to Midway a couple of weeks ago and stayed in a friend of Dan's cabin. This is the only way I enjoy "camping". Growing up my family would go frolicking in the woods and I would stay home. I have no problem with enjoying the great outdoors as long as I can be home in the evening where the shower is and where freezing, (I mean sleeping) in a tent is not involved. The kids has a great time. Dan's friends rented some 4-wheelers and I don't think I saw the kids for most of the day. Noah especially. I thought that I was going to have a child permanently attached to it. After the day the little boys especially were so dirty. Katy kept walking around saying (I not filfy). Noah and Jack kept saying they would wait to take a shower because this wasn't their house but I won in the end! Here are a couple of pictures from that weekend.

It was fun. On the way home we had some adventures that involved a tire shop, car sick children, and a hurt and bleeding toe. I was grateful at that point that we made it home at all but it just made the trip more memorable.

Summer Happenings

It has been a busy summer. The kids have been having fun. Here are some pics of the summer fun.

For the fourth of July, on July 3rd we went to the fireworks in Grantsville. It was overcast and Dan was excited because it makes the fireworks reflect off the clouds. All I know is that my eyes were burning by the time they were over. On the fifth, Dan and the kids went to the park, a friends house and the drive-in movie. I stayed at home in bed all day long. So much fun.

My favorite sounds in the world

Most of the times some of the sounds coming out of my children are not what I would say, polite. There are times though that I love.

Jack gets so excited when he does well on a spelling test or math test in school. He will come home from school and tell me that he got 100% on his spelling test and it keeps his record at 100%. I love that he loves to learn.

Noah has this little giggle that if I could bottle it would make anyone smile. He will be watching a movie and something will happen and this giggle escapes. It is not his normal laugh, just something he can't contain so it bubbles out.

Katy when she sings. We sing primary songs for bedtime songs and her little voice singing I Feel my Saviors Love, is the best.

If I could only remember this when they are driving me nuts, that would be helpful. I guess I will take what I get. Hopefully one day the unpleasant sounds and noises won't be as frequent. A mom can hope, can't she?
